About Greg

Picture
Greg Paulson is the oldest of five children, the first in his family to attend college. His Dad, a craftsman and organic farmer, instilled the value of sharing, and not selling, his talents.  Lancaster County has been Greg’s home for over 40 years. His children have all attended public schools and have gone on to college and successful careers.

His work history includes being a welfare case worker, a lawyer, a teacher, and most recently, Chief of Staff in Lancaster County’s busiest legislative District Office, serving as ombudsman for every constituent having an issue with all of this Commonwealth’s 44 administrative agencies.

He is known for his strengths as a listener, advocating and ensuring that the voices of everyone are considered. He is known as a leader, capable of facilitating discussion among those with divergent opinions to reach consensus.

Among his professional achievements is being a founder of Lancaster County’s pro bono program, one that encourages attorneys to provide legal assistance to low income people who cannot afford to hire counsel to protect their civil and constitutional rights.  He is also proud to serve on the faculty of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, a state-owned institution dedicated to providing disadvantaged students with the skills to contribute to Pennsylvania’s economic growth and their own personal successes.

Greg has actively served on the boards of directors of various community, education, church and service organizations.  He was the first Chairman of the current Human Relations Commission of Lancaster City, serving in that capacity for nearly ten years.

Greg believes in the concept of commonwealth – a group of persons united by a common interest, serving and protecting each other, ensuring each other’s safety and survival.

Greg is, unequivocally, pro-public education, pro-choice, pro-living wage and decent working conditions, pro-union, pro-adequately funded social services, pro-environment, pro-alternative transportation, and pro-gun-safety legislation.

He supports necessary and equitable education funding for underperforming schools, especially in struggling urban and rural districts.  He will work to ensure that state farmland preservation funding is maintained. He supports amending the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act of 1955 to include sexual orientation and/or gender identity or expression.

Greg lives in Lancaster with his wife, Jane, their dog, Gabriel, and other, assorted, small furry, domesticated creatures.

“This is going to be an election about values – and I’m going to be out there listening to all citizens, Republicans, Democrats and Independents, about values that are most important to them and most important to the preservation and enhancement of our community as a tolerant, accepting and inclusive place to live.”
